It's Been a While..

It's been a while since i posted anything (even though i enjoy it --> i think i should add it to my to do list)..

It's been a while since i felt so relaxed..

Itt's been a while since i felt so care-free..

It's been a while since i came back home this late just coz i wanted to (not because i was stuck at some stupid wedding waiting for the bride to bless us with her presence.. till 3 am!!)

It's been a while since i put on so much make-up..

It's been a while since i smoked this much..

It's been a while since my face got semi-tanned (it's not as easy as it sounds)..

It's been while since both my parents travelled and left us home alone..

It's been a while since i phoned a certain close friend of mine..

It's been a while since i've seen a certain someone (really not who u think!)..

It's been a while..

Because of You..

Because of you I never strayed too far from the sidewalk
Because of you I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you I don't know how to let anyone else in

So true..

Happy Mother's Day!

Yesteday was mother's day.. Being mommy's only daughter (the other 2 are boys, or as the prefer to be called "men"), i was the one who had to remind them the day before of the fact that March 21st is (just like it's been for the past 50 years or so)Mother's day.

Ofcourse the only one who remembered and actually did something about it, is.. ofcourse.. me. :) (Not that it's a burden i truly enjoy it!)

My little brother (not so little at 20) did try to be nice, he went to my mom yesterday afternoon and asked her how old she is today (!). I guess it's the sentiment that counts.

For the first time EVER, a Saudi newspaper (Okaz) had a teeny tiny newsbox stating that today is Mother's Day, a day well-deserved by all mothers for their hard work. It also said that the celebration of Mother's Day on March 21st began in 1956 on the hands of Ali and Mustafa Ameen, the editors in chief of the Egyptian newspaper "Akhbar Al-Yom". (I didn't know that.. It's really cool!... I guess we're light-years away from the days they used to tell us at school that it was haraam to celebrate such a "western" holiday (...).

I truly believe Mothers should be celebrated. And not just your own mother. Even your friends who are mothers. Especially the ones who started out young. It amazes me how much responsibility a person takes on the second they become pregnant (Men included, but they tend to find a loop-hole around this point). How every word, action, emotion and even smile (or lack of it) will affect their child for years to come. That who they are and the way they behave with and around this baby/child/teenager/young adult will largely influence their own personality, and the way they will deal with their children later on. I find this immensely scary. It's like a 21-year long project, with very short breaks, and almost no room for mistakes. But then again, does anyone really think about all this before they conceive a child? Or is it essential to forget about all this in order to find the courage to actually go ahead with it?.. I really don't know..

Access and Poor Little Me

Morning!!

So i'm working on this database on access, even though what i study has nothing to do with systems, or computers, or whatever.. it's just because, umm.. this is not gonna make any sense.. ok. let's start the story from the beginning.

Almost a year ago some colleagues of mine suggested that i join them in this amazing project which aims to deliver quality healthcare and medications to the less fortunate, and i did. A month into the project, all kinds of different papers started to pile up.. being the chatterbox that i am, i made this "smart" comment that "technology is here to serve us, so let's use it to compile all this into an efficient system!" (ofcourse at the time i had been brainwashed by a certain someone into believing that technology is really our friend and stuff).. So being the one who evidently "liked" technology so much and was "hip" enough to know how to "work it", i volunteered to do that.. and that's when i learned my lesson: "Unless u Really know what you're saying, smiling and being all cute is good enough".. not for long ;P

So anyway, here i am, after very long, very frustrating nights, proudly a creator of a teeny tiny database.. and just when it got to my head, this scary little screen comes up and says "type mismatch in expression"!!
WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT?? I don't think it's even english!!

And what's truly pissing me off is the following: WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO COMPLICATED?? Why can't u have this little window that says: "I'm sorry you're so technologically challenged.. but it's not your fault; really! the problem is .......(in simple plain human instructions!).. u can fix it by doing ..(1, 2, 3..)... Sorry we're complicated!" and please, do NOT have that wierd little microsoft paperclip dude ANYWHERE near it..

Come on, How much nicer would that be? :)
