Watch out from the Cola, girls!

The results of a prolonged study on 2,500+ people (50+ men and women) to show the relation between Cola consumption and bone mineral density (BMD) (the stuff that if it decreases would cause osteoporosis "هشاشة العظام") were released this week, here is what they found:

- higher degrees of cola consumption (average of 5-6 times per week) may be associated with reduced hip BMD among women. However, cola consumption did not affect BMD among men.

- Cola may reduce BMD through higher intake of caffeine, high fructose corn syrup, phosphoric acid, or some combination of these effects.

- Diet cola caused a similar effect.

- The effect was less for decaffeinated cola beverages

- non-cola carbonated beverages did NOT affect BMD.

Interesting!

My advice? For every cup of cola u have, make sure u have a glass of milk too (hopefully not at the same time, coz that would be sort of gross)

THIS IS NOT THE STUDY'S RECOMMENDATION, THIS IS DIDI'S RECOMMENDATION :)

Shot Gun!!!
Anyway, I'm trying to cut down on my soft drink consumption! :) Overall they're unhealthy, so it would be a good step if I quit drinking them :)
